Hardware and accessories
The following section from the User Guide describes the hardware components of the Augmenta tracking system. You will find details about the Augmenta Nodes, as well as the sensors available.
Mounting the node
The mounting options described below are more focused on mounting the hardware to the ceiling, which is the prefered setup for the sensors.
Mounting the node to a threaded rod
When using the Augmenta Node Hanger you screw a M10 threaded rod into it. The threaded rod can be fixed to the ceiling, providing a safe option for permanent installation.
Mounting the node to a light hook
When using the Augmenta Node Hanger you can screw into it a standard light fixture hook. With such a setup you can attach the node to any tube or bar on which the light hook fits.
Placing the node on a surface
Without the Augmenta Node Hanger, you can place the Augmenta Node on a flat surface. When placing the node on a flat surface pay attention to remove the Augmenta Node Hanger, so that the heat sink of the node faces upward.
Safety loop
When using the Augmenta Node Hanger you can use the safety loop on the hanger accessory to attach a safety lanyard to secure the node.
Heat sink orientation
A general rule to follow is that whenever possible the node should be placed so that the heat sink is facing upward. This becomes mandatory when placing the node on a surface. Do not place a node on a surface with the heatsink facing downwards, the node might quickly overheat !
Mounting sensors
We can provide small clamp accessories for sensors. Those clamps are equipped with a standard photo thread. We also provide accessories for many sensors that do not have out of factory a female photo threaded insert.
Having accessories with female photo inserts for most of our sensors, there is a lot of mounting options. Most popular are:
The small Augmenta clamps
Magic Arms
Camera tripods
For permanent installations, the small Augmenta clamp can be mounted on a rod/bar/tube. When mounting on a small threaded rod, you can screw nuts on it to have a wider clamping zone. The maximum tube diameter the clamp can be attached to is 50mm.
When using the Augmenta clamp, you have the option to clamp the camera directly on the Node if needed. This is not the most stable mounting option, but it can help if no other mounting option is present.
